Delete your Coffee Meets Sugar account

You can request deletion of your Coffee Meets Sugar account (developer: Coffee Meets Sugar) at any time. This page explains the full process, which data is deleted, which data is kept, and for how long.

Option 1: Delete in the app

This is the fastest path. Once submitted, we immediately queue your account and most of your personal data for deletion.

  1. Sign in to the Coffee Meets Sugar app (iOS or Android) with the account you want to delete.
  2. Tap the "Me" tab in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Tap the settings icon in the top-right corner.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the settings screen and tap "Delete account".
  5. Read the consequences, type the confirmation text, and tap "Confirm delete".
  6. You will be signed out immediately and your account enters the deletion queue.

Option 2: Request deletion by email

If you can no longer sign in to the app, or prefer not to use the in-app flow, our support team can delete your account for you.

  1. Email [email protected] from the email address you registered with.
  2. Use the subject line: "Account deletion request — Coffee Meets Sugar".
  3. Include in the body: the email used at sign-up, phone number (if any), and the display name shown in the app so we can verify your identity.
  4. We confirm receipt within 7 business days and complete deletion within 30 days of identity verification.

What we delete

Once your request is verified, the following data is permanently erased from our production systems within 30 days:

  • Profile data: name, nickname, birthday, gender, bio, interest tags.
  • Photos, videos, and any other media you uploaded.
  • Messages you sent and received (deleted on both sides).
  • Matches, likes, favourites, and your block list.
  • Login credentials and third-party sign-in links (Apple, Google).
  • Device identifiers, push tokens, and behavioural data used for personalised recommendations.

What we keep, and for how long

To comply with tax, payment, anti-money-laundering, and consumer-protection regulations, and to resolve any disputes, the following data is retained for the minimum period required by law:

  • Payment and invoice records: 5 years, as required by accounting and tax law.
  • Fraud, harassment, and abuse records (de-identified): 5 years, used to prevent repeat offenders from re-registering.
  • Hashed email address and phone number: 5 years, used only to recognise permanently banned accounts.
  • Support correspondence: 3 years, for service quality and dispute resolution.

Retained data is used only for legal compliance and dispute handling — never for marketing, recommendations, or external disclosure. After the retention period it is automatically deleted or anonymised.

Other things to know

  • Account deletion is irreversible. Once complete, chats, matches, and subscription history cannot be restored.
  • If you have an active paid subscription, cancel it directly in the App Store or Google Play first to avoid being charged for the next period. Coffee Meets Sugar cannot cancel subscriptions managed by Apple or Google on your behalf.
  • Deleting your account does not automatically issue a refund. Refunds follow Apple App Store or Google Play policy and must be requested through those stores.
  • We cannot remove screenshots or backups that other users captured before you deleted your account.
